Turner House provides an excellent supportive environment that encourages men to develop a structured, responsible lifestyle through consistency, motivational direction, and quality leadership. The men learn responsibility by finding work, doing daily chores, and attending house meetings, and following a curfew of 11pm daily and 12am on weekends. They learn relationship skills through daily living.
"When I first arrived at the Turner House I was in need of help. My issues stemmed from alcoholism and I needed a guiding force to lead me in the right direction. During my stay at the Turner House I was taught guidelines and life skills that would allow me to be more successful in my life. By learning these guidelines and skills my reintroduction into society was a lot easier than if I had not been given guidance. After 12 years of sobriety I am now a productive member of society and am able offer my own guidance to individuals that are now in the position that I once was. I feel a sense of accomplishment and growth when I am able to offer my guidance to those who truly need a helping hand. The Turner changed my life and I am forever grateful." -- WILLIAM C. --
"I couldn't live with or live without a drink, I was desperate and hopeless....God, the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and a safe place to start over (the NORMAN TURNER HOUSE) turned my life completely around." -- SCOTT T. --
About 10yrs ago I committed to a 1yr stay at the Turner Recovery House, at the request of a counselor (leaving my 2 sons and wife back home-who I was already separated from because of 20 yrs of drinking and drugging). Then I was existing day by day or week to week IF I had a job. That 1yr turned into almost 2yrs. I literally learned how to live again. I give all accolades to the Turner House for guiding me in the right direction to gain respect (for myself & others), humility, a successful career, gratitude, my family back, & how to Get & Stay Sober. My wife, 2 sons, brother, sisters, mom, the rest of my family & friends, & mainly myself are so grateful for the Turner Recovery House. Thank you TRH for lifting me out of the gutter and putting me back into LIVING. -- PAUL R. --
